With the declaration of 2023 as the International Year of Millets, let’s commit to enhance its production and promote this health promising crop in our regular diet.

Millets are not only beneficial to farmers, but also, it provides nourishment to millions of people across the globe. 

A wide variety of this wonder crop available in India supports the cause of GoI's vision of making India a 'Global Hub for Millets'.

As India is planning to step ahead with improved use of Millet through science, let's come together to support our Nutri crop.

1) Pearl millet, is also known as spiked millet. The height of the pearl millet plant may range from 1.5 to 3M and the grain can be nearly white, pale yellow, brown, grey, slate blue, or purple. 

2) Little millet, also known as Kutki, is rich in magnesium, and high in phosphorus. It can repair body tissue and enhance immunity power. 

3) Finger millet is full of dietary fiber, which helps to control the “bad” cholesterol that can contribute to heart diseases like atherosclerosis. Soluble fiber absorbs cholesterol before it enters your bloodstream, maintaining a lower cholesterol level without medication.

4) Foxtail Millet is rich in Vitamin B12 which is essential for maintaining a healthy heart and smooth functioning of the nervous system, and in general good for skin and hair growth.

5) Barnyard millet is the fastest growing of all millets and produces a crop in six weeks. The height of the plant varies between 50 and 100 cm.

6) Sorghum is a nutrient-packed grain that can be used in many ways. It's rich in vitamins and minerals. It's also an excellent source of fiber, antioxidants, protein, helps digestion, and good for heart.
