✅ A MoU has been signed between the World Economic Forum and the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) to work in collaboration towards making the cities sustainable.
♻️ About the Initiative:
✅ The aim is to create an environment for cities to generate decarbonisation solutions involving efficiency in energy and transport, building an environment for a low carbon future.
✅ This will boost India’s futuristic targets to mitigate the issues of climate change with the active participation of cities that will set upon an transformative journey towards sustainable solutions.
✅ It will involve a city sprint process and a toolbox of solutions for the decarbonisation in five to seven cities for a period of two years.
✅ The city sprint process is a series of multisectoral, multi-stakeholder workshops that engages businesses, government and civil society to join the initiative of reducing the carbon footprint through clean electrification and circularity. It will provide a roadmap for net zero emissions through planning and action.
✅ The Toolbox of solutions will offer a digital platform with 200 examples of clean electrification processes, smart infrastructure solutions and best practices to ensure energy efficiency and sustainable mobility.
✅ This is a welcoming initiative which will facilitate India to achieve its net zero emissions targets by 2070.
